Assessment Tool Facts

One of the biggest struggles for teachers is to determine which assessment tool they need to choose when they are trying to assess any type of work.

• The figure below is a chart that helps teachers determine which assessment tool they should use.

Figure 12.1 lists the most common assessment tools, their purposes, and some of their strengths and limitations.  Many of these tools may be used for diagnostic, formative and summative purposes.
